Description: Reporting to the Operations Director, the Benefits Counselor primarily assists and coaches individuals with disabilities seeking or currently receiving Social Security benefits using a multi-faceted approach; the goal is to remove barriers to financial independence.  Secondarily, the Benefits Counselor assists adults with disabilities to maintain their independence in a home of their choosing or works to transition them from an institutional setting to a community-base setting by creating person centered plans and maximizing personal and community resources.

Description: The ideal candidate for this position is a seasoned professional, who possesses the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users and navigate potentially conflict-based situations.  Benefits Planning involves working with individuals with disabilities regarding their Social Security work incentive programs designed to assist them in either returning/entering employment or maintaining their employment. Additional duties include assisting clients with MI Bridges benefits. The Benefits Planners targeted knowledge base must include Social Security Disability Insurance, Supplemental Security Income, Medicare, Medicaid, and Food Assistance. This position requires the maintenance of the Benefits Planner/ Work Incentives Practitioner certification as well as Bridges Navigator.

Utilizing Motivational Interviewing and Person-Centered Planning techniques, this role aims to empower individuals to achieve independent living.

Description: The Executive Director position is a full time, exempt salaried position with a start salary range of $82,500-$97,500, commensurate with experience. This position includes a full benefits package.
